What is a 360 profile?

I'd like to know what you did with my old yahoo 360 profile, I do not like or appreciate it that you changed?

  • I had a yahoo 360 profile that had my story and good info on it. It also had my poems that I've written on there and photos. Where the heck did it go and why do you automatically think that everyone wants you to take matters into your own hands and change people's profiles, especially without letting them know your messing with them. Also I've been getting alot of emails lately that say they saw my "profile" I've been married for 3 years, have survived breast cancer which I talked to ladies about through my old 360 profile, and I work with the American Cancer society as a mentor to other cancer patients. Lets face it this yahoo crap is not working so you can cancel everything that is under the Cheryl Conour Hancock or Cheryl Conour or cnconour names permanently,ok? You need to GROW UP and STOP selling profiles, stop changing profiles and be more intune with what your individual profilers actually want.

Usually, only other Yahoo! users like you respond here with advice, not Yahoo! staff. This is not the site for technical support, where any actions can be taken on your account. The shutdown of Yahoo! 360 beta (http://360.yahoo.com ) had been in the works for at least two years. It was basically announced in the Yahoo! 360 Product Blog in October 2007. A link to that blog was in the upper right corner of your former 360 space (i.e. "Yahoo! 360 News"). The exact close date was announced in May 2009. E-mails were sent to members via the Yahoo! Mail service (http://mail.yahoo.com ) and the impending change was stated via other Yahoo! service areas as well (sometimes in relation to discussion regarding the Yahoo! Profile). Basic instructions regarding transitioning to the Yahoo! Profile (described below) and other services were provided as well. Yahoo has developed a "universal profile" for users, making a "social-networking" connection via many of its services (not just focused through one service like with Yahoo! 360). The Yahoo! Profile (http://profiles.yahoo.com ) is a centralized hub, but it is not the "new 360". This may be the "profile" that people are mentioning. The Yahoo! Profile is really an upgraded version of the old Yahoo! Members Profile that was always a part of your account. Some features from Yahoo! 360 won't be included; some may be expanded; and some are totally different. See http://ycorpblog.com/2008/10/16/your-social-control-panel and http://developer.yahoo.net/blog/archives/2008/04/introducing_the_1.html for more information. Anything that you've uploaded to Yahoo! 360 has been erased from the web (besides temporary cached versions of your 360 space that you may be able to find through search engines) as of basically July 13, 2009. Besides closing your Yahoo! account completely (which would include losing all services & content accessed by that Yahoo ID - see http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/edit/changing_users/edit-23.html for details), you can choose from options listed below: 1) Transfer 360 blogs to the Yahoo! Profile Go to http://download.360.yahoo.com to initiate the transfer process using the left side of the top box. This is assuming that you've set up your Y!Profile already. See http://help.yahoo.com/tutorials/prof/index.html for instructions, if you haven't. Make sure to adjust your blog permissions by clicking the "Settings" link in the upper right corner of your Y!Profile after your blogs have been transferred. Note that only blogs that weren't designated as "mature content" at any point in time will be automatically transferred to the Y!Profile. 2) Move to other blog or social-networking services SOCIAL-NETWORKING SERVICES (has similar features to Yahoo! 360): MySpace (http://myspace.yahoo.com ), Facebook (http://facebook.com ), Multiply (http://multiply.com ), Xanga (http://xanga.com ), Windows Live Spaces (http://spaces.live.com/ ), Ning (http://ning.com ) You also may want to check out http://social-networking-websites-review.toptenreviews.com/ , which provides a listing of some social-networking services and their features. BLOG SERVICES: Blogger/Blogspot (http://blogger.com ), Wordpress, Livejournal (http://livejournal.com ), Vox (http://vox.com ), Typepad (http://typepad.com ), Travelpod (http://www.travelpod.com/ ), Tumblr (http://www.tumblr.com/ ) You also may want to check out http://blog-services-review.toptenreviews.com/ , which provides a listing of top blogging services and their features (excluding Yahoo! 360, of course). Whatever service you choose, you can download a zip file of all your Yahoo! 360 blogs by using the box at the bottom of http://download.360.yahoo.com before August 19, 2009. You can extract from the zip file a text file of all your blogs (HTML version, including comments) and a folder of uploaded blog images. You may need to use a service's import tool (like in the case of Multiply), utilize a workaround like with Blogger (http://www.webdevelopersnotes.com/articles/blog-converter-blogspot.php ), or copy and paste content from the zip file's text file into the HTML view of a blog entry & re-add images. The zip file will work directly with blog services that have a Movable Type platform. 3) Move to blogs to your own web site domain Same deal as with #2, you would have to use the zip file of your blog contents.
