  • Me and one of my roommates just made a blog and we need ways to get people to visit it (without spending money).

    you'll have to do a lot of work. but here are some tools you can use in this regard social media (myspace, facebook, twitter) digg, stumbleupon participate in forums related to your blog comment on other people's blogs it'll take time, but eventually traffic will start rolling in

There are many ways to generate traffic. Popularity is not just measured in total number of unique page hits or number of followers. You should look for ways to retain readership, beyond a one-time visit. Just visiting and commenting on other blogs helps (popular ones or not).
