How can I make a file copy of my entire Yahoo 360* Blog site?
-
I want to copy and save my Yahoo 360* Blog site pages/entries to a file in my computer. Can this be done? In case Yahoo discontinues the 360* Blogs.

Answer:
There is no built-in transfer tool for 360, so you will have to do it manually - one piece of content at a time. A few services - like Multiply - have a 360 transfer tool if you want to use their blogging components. However, some people have reported that not all of their blog entries transferred. Some people use Multiply exclusively; others use it for back up. The manual transfer will be time consuming if you have a lot of content. You can do screenshots or do File > Save Page As through your browser, but that won't help much if you plan to move to another blogging service. - Click the "Edit" link on your blog entry. - Click the "View HTML Source" box on the right side of your entry's toolbar. Select all that is there. Click Ctrl+C on your keyboard, OR right-click to choose "Copy," OR go to your browser's Edit menu to choose copy. Paste the code into text document (Notepad, Wordpad, or Textpad). Save the document. Make sure to include the subject heading, tag, comments and post dates of the entries. If you want to use Microsoft Word, save the document as a text file to prevent unnecessary code from being added by the program. - Alternatively, you can avoid copying the code by not clicking the "View HTML Source" box and just copying what's there, which is the text of your entry. However, if you have video, links, or images embedded in the text, you will have to manually add them back later, if the worst should happen. - Any images uploaded to your entries via the upload tool above the "Entry Content" area, you should make sure are downloaded and saved to your computer OR better yet burned to a CD or some type of external hard drive (along with your text or Microsoft Word files). If you save the image, you may want to make the title the date of the blog entry that it belongs to. You can open up images you've loaded to 360 to their full view, then right-click on them and choose "Save Image As" to save them. - If you have an extensive Blogroll like I do, you will have to copy & paste the link titles and URLs into a document as well. - Yes, this will take time to do, especially if you have a lot of entries. There are paid services that will create a permanent book of your blog, but that will not help you if you're trying to transfer it to another platform. It sounds like you want everything to go in one file, but I doubt you will be able to do that for a text file. Personally, I make a file for each of my blog entries. I've decided not to save comments, tags, and other extraneous content besides pictures. NOTE: Yahoo! is migrating parts of 360 to a universal profile system (UPS). This transition was announced in October 2007 and the Yahoo! Profile (http://profiles.yahoo.com ) actually started in a rudimentary beta form on October 16, 2008. The Y!360 part of the system hasn't been transferred over fully yet. - See blogs at http://blog.360.yahoo.com/product_360 and http://www.yprofileblog.com for more details. The 360 team blog is also accessible via the "Yahoo! 360 News" link in the upper right corner of your 360 space. You can post complaints on the Yahoo! 360 blog, but don't expect a personal response. - See the links in these blog entries for more details on Yahoo's overall direction and UPS: http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-4D4zxsg6fLRvC60pERfR7.8c?p=1414 , http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-4D4zxsg6fLRvC60pERfR7.8c?p=1168 , and http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-4D4zxsg6fLRvC60pERfR7.8c?p=1236 .
