My xbox360 HDMi cables wont let me play in HD?

Hi i recently urchased a xbox360 elite and a 42 inch plasma with 1080p resalution when I hooked up the xbox and everything i go to display and it says the xbox360 hdmi cable is set to tv when its really set to hdmi and I tried using the same cables but different xbox360 on my tv and it worked fine can any1 help me please this si really depressing:(

go to the dashboard and go to console settings. then display and change the display from there to 1080p.
