  • Answer:

Your Yahoo account allows you access to various Yahoo services - many of them are free. Yahoo! 360 beta is one of those services. When you start a Yahoo account, you get a Yahoo Profile (http://profiles.yahoo.com ) associated with that primary Yahoo ID. You can customize your profile so that people know something about you, but there are limits to what you can do with it (so far). Yet you can choose to activate the Yahoo! 360 beta service on your account to have a more extensive profile. This profile also allows you to display an image on Y/A if you like. This is not a new service. It has been in "beta" (i.e. a testing mode) since 2005. You can read more about Yahoo! 360 in this old press release: http://docs.yahoo.com/docs/pr/release1222.html . Similar to the updated Y!Profile, Y!360 is involved with social networking. You can use the service to connect with other 360 spaces and meet new people. It's also similar to MySpace and Facebook in that regard. 360 combines some Yahoo services (note: not very successfully) into one area. What's new is the Y!Profile. It used to be the Yahoo! Members Profile, which had less features and did not have social-networking features. It was updated to the version that you see at http://profiles.yahoo.com on October 16, 2008. Yahoo! 360 will close and parts of it will transfer to the Y!Profile soon. This migration hasn't been fully completed. I like Yahoo! 360 too, but Y!Profile is what Yahoo has chosen as its future. - See blogs at http://blog.360.yahoo.com/product_360 for more details. The 360 team blog is also accessible via the "Yahoo! 360 News" link in the upper right corner of your 360 space. You can post complaints on their blog, but don't expect a personal response. - See these links on Yahoo's overall direction and UPS: http://www.yprofileblog.com/ , http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-4D4zxsg6fLRvC60pERfR7.8c?p=1168 and http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-4D4zxsg6fLRvC60pERfR7.8c?p=1236 .
