How do you post a blog on yahoo answers?

Looking for a way to incorporate Yahoo Answers on my blog?

  • Mike- Can I post a question on Yahoo Answers and then have it automatically appear on my blog along w/ future comments/replies?

  • Answer:

UPDATED: These are three options. You'd need to do some additional clicking to view new answers or comments to questions, but at least you will have a connection to the Y/A site from your blog. These instructions are related to the Yahoo! 360 blog service. If that's not the service that you're using, then you'll have adjust the instructions accordingly: 1) ADD A Y/A BADGE (will not work in 360 blog entries at this time because of a glitch preventing the posting of flash-based objects) - Go to http://answers.yahoo.com/my/badge_selector;_ylt=AnpNc1P0NUgqjLA2BzJpwb3sy6IX . - Scroll down to the Flash section. Choose either a vertical or horizontal badge. Copy the badge code that appears directly below. - Click on "My Blog" and click on the link to compose a new entry. - Type some text in the actual entry space as well, as it might not save. - Click the box next to "View HTML source" in the upper right of the entry space before adding code. - Paste the badge code into the space. - If you want the badge to be highlighted on the top right of your blog, click "Show Options" link at the bottom of the entry and click the highlight option. If you want the badge to be tagged, add a name for the blog category in the tag area at the bottom of the entry. For example, My_YA_Badge. - Click the box next to "View HTML source" to get back to regular view if necessary. It may not show up until the entry is Previewed or Saved. - Click "Save" button and see if it appears. 2) ADD A LINK TO YOUR Y/A PROFILE: - Go to your Y/A profile. Click on your avatar on the far left corner of most Yahoo Answers pages OR click on the "My Profile" link on the far, upper right corner of the page. - Click "Public View of My Profile" in the top left box. - Copy the URL that appears at the top of your browser. - Add that URL anywhere that a URL is accepted on your 360 space, such as the homepage section of your Top Page's Profile Module, the Blast, the Blog Roll, a blog entry. Your Q&A is shown at the bottom of your profile page. 3) RSS FEED There are URLs - which are just addresses to web pages. Then, there are RSS feeds which you can add to your 360 using an RSS-specific URL. WARNING: Getting the feed links to be accepted without an error can take SEVERAL tries. No kidding, even if you have the correct URL. The module is buggy. But I have eventually been successful in every feed that I've tried to add (see http://360.yahoo.com/kee_y360 ). Clearing my browser's cookies and cache & refreshing the page a few times in between adding links might have helped. Yet even if you do add a link successfully, Yahoo is no longer updating the feature regularly, so it MAY take MONTHS for it to show up on your 360. You could put the links in the RSS module and wait forever for them to be activated. a) Go to any the site that you want to get the feed from. Look for the "RSS or XML" link or orange RSS button (okay, sometimes it's a different color). A RSS file will come up on the next page. (If the page looks like raw code, but don't let it scare you! You don't have to subscribe to the feed, you just need to copy that RSS page's URL). - In the case of Y/A, you will not be able to RSS feed your answers as there isn't a specific feed for them. You can only feed your questions, your starred questions, or a Yahoo! Answers category of questions. Click on your avatar or the "My Profile" link in the upper right area of Y/A pages to get to your Y/A profile. There are 3 places to find an RSS button: **** Click on the green RSS button under the "My Stats" box on the right side for "My Questions". **** Click on the "My Questions" tab. Then, click on the green RSS button in the upper right corner of the box. **** Click on the "My Starred Questions" tab. Then, click on the green RSS button in the upper right corner of the box. **** If you want questions from a particular Y/A category, go to that category's page and click on the RSS button under the "Related Links" box on the left side. b) After clicking the RSS button, you can select the URL found in the address bar of your browser, then use "Ctrl-C" on your keyboard to copy that address. c) Click the "Add a Feed (via RSS)" or "Edit Feeds" link in your Feeds module on your "My Page" in 360. Use "Ctrl-V" to paste the URL into the "Add a feed" space in that page. Make sure to adjust the permissions for the Feeds module to something other than "Just Me (Private)". d) When you're done, click the "Save" button below.
