How can I switch from yahoo 360 to my regular profile?

Yahoo! 360 is closing ... how do i transfer it to my new profile?

  • I am confused. I just got an e-mail saying Yahoo! 360 is closing. It seems like they're going to form 360 and Yahoo! together? It sounds like that they said that when we are on Yahoo.com, we are going to be able to connect to friends, and make blogs as we did on 360? It says download or save your photos, names, etc. how do i do this? And if i switch like this, will i still have the same Yahoo! Answers profile?

  • Answer:

You have one Yahoo! account. That account gives you access to many Yahoo! services (http://everything.yahoo.com ). These services are separate from each other for the most part, even there are functions that may connect. Your Yahoo! Answers profile is not effected besides the Yahoo! 360 features switching to Yahoo! Profile ones. The Yahoo! 360 beta service will close on July 13, 2009. If you want to retain your content, you have a few choices, in terms of where to move it: - Yahoo! Profile (http://profiles.yahoo.com ) - another blog hosting website (like Wordpress - http://wordpress.com ) Wordpress will be added to the Y!Profile as an "update" option at some point. - or your own domain . Whatever you choose, you'll have complete this move by Sunday, July 12, 2009. If you pick the Yahoo! Profile, you can connect to friends from Yahoo! 360, create blogs (maybe with less features), and some other aspects. If you need to download and save photos from Yahoo! 360, it's likely from your Personal Photos module and/or the blog area. You can open up images you've loaded to 360 to their full view, then right-click on them and choose "Save Image As" to save them to your computer. Yahoo! Profiles Blog: http://www.yprofileblog.com/ Yahoo! Profiles Help (regarding its blog feature): http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/profiles/blog/ Yahoo has developed a "universal profile" for users (i.e. Yahoo! Profile) and is making a "social-networking" connection via many of its services (not just focused through one service like with Yahoo! 360). The Yahoo! Profile (http://profiles.yahoo.com ) is a centralized hub, but it is not necessarily the "new 360". They aren't trying to make a new and improved 360, meaning that a direct replacement for the service was not part of the plan. The Yahoo! Profile is really an upgraded version of the old Yahoo! Members Profile. See the below for more insight into Yahoo's new "Open Strategy" direction and what top Yahoo officials thought about Yahoo! 360, in addition to evident continual decline of the service. It's pretty obvious that the Yahoo! executives did not think Yahoo! 360 was "successful": * http://news.cnet.com/8301-13953_3-10041155-80.html * http://news.cnet.com/8301-17939_109-10067445-2.html * http://developer.yahoo.net/blog/archives/2008/04/introducing_the_1.html * http://ycorpblog.com/2008/10/16/your-social-control-panel * http://www.yprofileblog.com/ * http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-ZctuWFowaK7nKTg-?cq=1 or http://ashpatel.wordpress.com
