Why can't I get my 360 homepage out of "edit" mode?

  • Also, there appears a big white square that's supposed to be a music player but there's nothing on it.

  • Answer:

UPDATED: First, a primer on "edit mode" which is the mode of your Top Page/My Page. When you click on the "My Page" link in your 360, you are looking at the EDIT view of your space. That perspective is only for you. Everyone else sees your page without white boxes (in terms of modules that are without any content - except the Profile Information box). Add content to modules and adjust your permissions so that people can see what you've added. See http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/360/permissions/index.html for more information on permissions. Otherwise, to see what your page visitors see, click on the drop down menu "Preview as seen by" at the top right of your 360 "My Page". Choose a permission group and click the "Go" button. You can also copy the URL of your 360 space, log out of Yahoo, then paste URL in your browser to look at the space as the Public sees it. As for your music player, you are experiencing a sitewide Yahoo! 360 glitch. It involves flash-based objects in the blog (i.e. videos, photo slideshows, music players, and various other widgets). Re-installing the Flash player plug-in, using different browsers, or re-embedding the object has no effect. It seems that this glitch has worsened. - For old entries (prior to the end of September), note that if you click on the "Comment" link of the blog entry, the video, music players, and some photo slideshows appear correctly. Other flash-based objects will not appear in any view. - For new entries, no flash-based objects will appear in any view, except YouTube videos IF you convert the code. You would have to join the Making Your 360 More Interesting (MY360MI) Yahoo! Group, paste the code into the conversion tool that group owner Stu kindly created, and use the resulting code in your 360 blog. He is working on creating more conversion tools, but there are no guarantees. So, as of now, music players no longer work in 360 blogs. Although, you can still add MP3 songs (to the blast) and links to videos (to anywhere a URL is allowed).
