How to get rid of YA's link to my Yahoo Pulse profile?
-
I should note I asked a similar question two months ago: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AqJvmYFrtZNUPfIIHsN4yZLty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20100904054421AAf8W6f But I consider this a "separate" question and not a repeat because circumstances have changed(for the worst?). I checked earlier and it appears despite my earlier actions YA is posting the link again. That's very annoying. I checked to make sure it wasn't just because I was logged in that I was seeing. Yep, everybody and their dog can see it, even if they're not logged in to Yahoo. I know there's a "private" option that will practically cut you off from the outside world. YA will not show these links, but my YP profile will be more blocked off from other YP users. I don't see why the two have to go together hand in hand like this. I like SOME degree of "openness" but I don't like being stalked. I don't want to go the super-mega-private option, but YA may not give me a choice. Perhaps along with the "icon" changes they've had(all these orange and green exclamation points for avatars/icons for those of us who didn't have them), they have new changes I haven't noticed yet. So, once again...how to keep YA from linking to my YP profile..?

Answer:
I recently asked a question where I refered to that and got an answer from Amanda, YA staff describing how to do exactly that: "If you don't mind not having an image, you can hide your Pulse page completely by going to the Settings on Pulse > Privacy and checking Hide My Profile. Alternatively, if you'd like an image, it's a bit more complicated but here is how you can do it... Go to Settings > Manage Privacy. Make sure the first two and the last option is unchecked. This will mean people won't be able to search for your Profile and the last one will make your not hidden so we can use your avatar and nickname on Yahoo! Answers. If you leave your guestbook public, make sure you set this to Connections only. Next, go to Settings > Manage Updates. Make sure you are not sharing updates. It's the first option at the top. Finally go to your homepage of your Pulse page. On the left hand side, select the "Info" section. Now set everything to no one or connections only. The only things you must show are your display name, your gender, your city / country location and your avatar."

Go to http://pulse.yahoo.com/y/settings Click on "Manage privacy settings". Check "Hide my profile". Note that this will not allow a photo avatar to be used in Y!A. Only the cartoon could be used. ₪ ʎəɿʞɹɐq ₪
