How do you put music on your xbox 360? HELPPPPP! very confused.?

i bought an xbox elite and i know you can put music im just not sure how to? when i used an ethernet cord it didnt save it to the hard drive, when i unhooked it, all the music just went away. please help if you can. THANK YOU!
