Why does my xbox 360 keep freezing?

• I've not really used the xbox extensively but my stepfather got one almost a month ago. We got black ops the other night and I began playing it. While in campaign it froze, so I just restarted the xbox thinking everything will be cool. Online it freezes too. I don't really know what the problem is, I just know it does it on cod2 also. When I go online on cod2 to check if it did it there it happened. So can anyone tell me what's up? This problem keeps happening every round I play on black ops. And every other round on cod2. Should I return it? Or is it just the game? The game is in pristine condition so it can't be the disk. Thanks a lot.

  The Kinect update from Xbox Live on November 1, 2010 caused a large number of Xbox 360 to stop reading official discs and only give an "open tray" message on even non-modded consoles. Microsoft still hasn't fixed the issue. There is also a new January 19, 2011 update that is now also giving people similar problems. There is a very large topic on the November 2010 update problems at the official forums.
