How do you open your IM thing on your profile?

Is there anyway I can hide my pulse profile without having my display picture disappear?

• by disappear i mean go blank or with this ! symbol some creep on here was stalking up though my main account's profile and digging up in my questions and answers and sifting through all my information. i hid my profile but it won't show my display picture. and if i unhide it but still turn all my settings to show to contacts only, my account is still vulnerable any way i can have my display picture up and also my profile hidden? how do you even turn off the ability for ppl to see your profile on your account. where is says "view profile" above the email and im thing. i use to be able to just take it off completely and now its complicated. please help

  First of all, there is no way you can keep your Profile hidden and have a display picture. Yahoo will not allow it. You can hide your profile and make it unsearchable as follows: Go to your Profile Page (now called Pulse). Click on "Settings" which is a tab above your Connections. Click on "Manage Privacy Settings" under the "Privacy" heading. Tick the bottom box "Hide my Profile". Click on "Save" at the bottom. If you wish to stop people from searching for you by ticking the top box "Allow people to find my profile by searching for my name and info". To hide your Profile on your Answers page, Click on your Avatar to take you to your Answers Page. Click on "Edit my Preferences". Under the Privacy Section, UNTICK the box "Show link to my Profile page". Click on "Preview" at the bottom followed by "OK".
