Is there a way to get my old Yahoo Pulse layout back? I really don't like this update.?
-
If not here's the things I'm wanting to do, but can't: I want to be able to go back to the comments I've made on articles, without waiting for an e-mail, like you used to be able to. You know where it would show everything you did on your profile? Okay, also used to it would let you crop your profile picture, now it just uploads it and now I have a picture of my mouth and chest. Is there a way to get the old uploader? I tried uploading a pic to my Yahoo Answers, but it's not showing on my Yahoo Pulse. Thank you :)

Answer:
No to all of the above. The opportunity to switch back to Yahoo! Pulse has passed as of Dec. 1, 2011, and even then it was temporary. Yahoo! Profile really has no features. Users can only display textual information and a pic/avatar. That's it. This initial version of Yahoo! Profile does not include any social-networking aspects, including connections, commenting/guestbook, blogs or status updates. Status changes and some other updates are only viewable via Yahoo! Messenger, but it's uncertain whether those updates include comments on news articles. Also, it's doubtful there's any update archiving via Messenger. There are two social-networking features that may be added that pertains to news called "Conversations" and "Notifications". The Notifications will be how you can keep up with comments. It's unclear whether this feature has archival aspects or is like a real-time updater. It's unclear via which service those features will be incorporated. Also, I'm guessing that those features aren't enabled yet. See http://ycorpblog.com/2011/11/01/product-runway2011/ for where this was mentioned. Also, see http://pressroom.yahoo.net/pr/ycorp/yahoo-connects-with-facebook.aspx for more details regarding "News Activity" features (although it's primarily related to a partnership with Facebook). As for your profile picture, the old uploader went the way of Yahoo! Pulse. If there's no cropping tool in Y!Profiles, then I advise that you crop the image prior to uploading it. It's best to use a pic with small square dimensions like 244 pixels wide by 244 pixels high. Profile pics often take time to appear across Yahoo! services. It's showing on both Y!Profile and Y!Answers now though. It looks fine, in terms of cropping.
