Why is my xbox360 blinking red on the power on button?

Why when I press the power button on my Xbox360 the light turns off but the system is still going?

I dont have a plug and play charge set either. According to research that is supposed to be the problem.

you mean you hear a little buzz likes its still working i usually just turn it on and turn it off again. no idea what it is but i shut it up like that. sides the usual problems the slim seems to have, i should of bought the normal one
