What is a 360 profile?

What has happened to my 360 profile?

  • On my profile there is no link to my 360. I normally have it set so only I can visit it, but even that has disappeared. Also, in the section under "edit my profile" the 360 picture it has given me is the very first one I ever used that I no longer have saved anywhere on this computer. What's going on with it? How can I fix it?

  • Answer:

Yahoo! is eliminating 360. They announced that they are making a transition: "From now on, instead of importing your image display from Yahoo! 360, Answers will use the image from your profile on Yahoo!." So you will either need to update your profile or create your profile by going to http://profiles.yahoo.com. If no picture is created in your profile and if you are not using an avatar, the gray smiley face will appear by default. Parts of Yahoo! 360 are transitioning to the Yahoo! Profile (and thus other services are making an adjustment in their settings), but your 360 space is likely still usable and accessible. The Yahoo! Profile is not necessarily the "new Yahoo! 360" though. - Go to http://360.yahoo.com - Click the teeny tiny "Sign-in" link on the upper left of the page (if you are not already signed into a 360 service). After signing in, the page refreshes and you should click on the teeny tiny "Yahoo 360 Home" link on the upper right of the page to get into the 360 space. If you want a link to your 360 space in your Yahoo! Answers profile again: - Click "My Page" at the top of your 360 space - Click the drop down menu "Preview as seen by" at the top right of your 360 "My Page". - Choose PUBLIC as the permission group and click the "Go" button - Click the "Top Page" link above your personal profile picture section on the left side. - Select & copy the FULL web address that appears in your web browser's address bar (starting from the http:// part) - Click "My Profile" to the upper right of this Yahoo! Answers page, then click "Edit My Info" in the top left box on the Answers profile page. - Paste the address in your Y/A profile's "About Me" section. If you have a Simple URL setup, use that instead. Make sure A SPACE follows the address. You can right-click on the largest view of the image in your 360 space and save it to your computer, then go to http://profiles.yahoo.com and upload it there if you want. Also, make sure the "Use the Y!Profile image" is selected in your Yahoo! Answer settings if you want it show here. See http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/profiles/photos/01.html , http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/answers/profiles/profiles-751483.html , and http://yanswersblog.com/index.php/archives/2009/03/18/what%E2%80%99s-happening-to-my-image/ for details. You will have to be patient while the system makes these adjustments. See http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/profiles/ for details of what you can do on the Yahoo! Profile. There are more changes to come. NOTE: This transition was announced in October 2007 on the Yahoo! 360 product blog and the UPS actually started in a rudimentary beta form on October 16, 2008. The Y!360 part of the system hasn't been transferred over fully yet. See the links below for more details on what will be kept from 360 and what won't be kept (which I recommend that you take steps to save elsewhere). - See blogs at http://blog.360.yahoo.com/product_360 and http://www.yprofileblog.com for more details. The 360 team blog is also accessible via the "Yahoo! 360 News" link in the upper right corner of your 360 space. You can post complaints on the Yahoo! 360 blog, but don't expect a personal response. - See the links in these blog entries for more details on Yahoo's overall direction and UPS: http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-4D4zxsg6fLRvC60pERfR7.8c?p=1560 , http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-4D4zxsg6fLRvC60pERfR7.8c?p=1414 , http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-4D4zxsg6fLRvC60pERfR7.8c?p=1168 , and http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-4D4zxsg6fLRvC60pERfR7.8c?p=1236 .

Yahoo is switching profiles from Yahoo 360 to Yahoo Profiles. 360 is in transition and you may get very slow response for a while. Go to http://profiles.yahoo.com and create a profile and upload your photo there. Once you create a photo it may switch back and forth from 360 to the new profile until all the servers are updated. ₪ ɦəlʞɹɐq ₪
