Why am I not getting any response to my deleted question appeal? (For Yahoo! Answers Stuff)?
-
On July 7, 2010 I have spent over an hour coming up and typing a question of mine, that would finally answer the question regarding the "Ancient Astronauts" theory, in the Astronomy & Space section. The title of my question was: "If you're the one who disclaims the "Ancient Astronauts" theory, this question is for you...>>>?", and so for that question, I have done my own research and I have spent a lot of time putting the information together, and I did get a lot of extremely good answers to my question. But after all of the hard work, I have got that question of mine reported by someone just 3 hours after I posted it. I'm just shocked. How could a question like this be deleted? I have browsed through your Answers Community Guideline, and I just don't see how did my question violate the terms of service. It doesn't say that a question can not be long, right? And my question did not contain any violent or any other sort of expressions that would otherwise violate the rules. I have appealed it immediately right after I have got the violation notice, but almost 48 hours have passed by, and I still didn't get any response (Maybe the Y!A representatives are too lazy to go over my question). After all, that is in their interests, to have Yahoo! Answers have such a question that contains so much information. Then why would they want to remove it? Thank you.

Answer:
It has nothing to do with having done research or whether or not your information was correct. From what you describe, your question was a violation. I don't know what your actual question was (you didn't actually state the specific question), but I suspect your post more more providing information than seeking information... specifically asking a question to resolve a problem, or get instruction. 3 hours is actually quite a long time. Questions, reported by 2 or more other Y!A users) are usually reported within the first few minutes. A question doesn't have to be rude or offensive in ANY way whatsoever for it to be a violation. There are many other possible violations. Again, the purpose of asking a question on Yahoo! Answers is NOT to provide information (no matter how wonderful and valuable we think that information is). We ask questions to GET knowledge seeking information, because we need that information in order to resolve a problem. I don't think that was the purpose of your question. I suspect several Y!A users would have reported it. We provide information when we answer a question, not when we ask a question. It was a violation. Sorry. You will most likely receive an email rejection of your appeal. You need to have a better understanding as to the purpose of this site. For some reason, all of my answer did not appear. I received an error message when I posted it, but thought it was all there. What was missing was my mention of appropriate forums that you should have the sort of discussion you seem to be seeking. We aren't allowed discussion here. Here are a few. If you put that much time, effort and research into a QUESTION... then you were not looking for an answer. You were looking for a confirmation to the answer you already had. That is a violation of the community guidelines, as it violates the question/answer format. If your long and detailed and well-researched question came across at ALL as a Rant, you know... as if you were TELLING people something or INFORMING people of something... then it wasn't a question. You were not asking for information... you were imparting it. That, believe it or not, is a reason for deletion. More importantly, Yahoo only removed the question because more than one person reported it for abuse. So, multiple people agreed that your question violated the community guidelines. Did it violate the guidelines in the ways YOU think? Nope. But I notice that you did not cover the ENTIRE guidelines. Now, I've gotten reported answers appealed. I did so by pointing out how my answer did not violate EACH and EVERY point in the guidelines. I pointed out how my answer fit EVERY good point, and did not violate EVERY bad point. I did not skip any of them. If your appeal consists of details about how much work you put into the question and whatnot, Yahoo is not going to respond. end of line

Yahoo answers is filled with trolls who report people for no reason and the worse thing is yahoo does nothing about it they just listen to them! I'm sorry but yahoo answers is far from perfect.
Questions are not supposed to be statements, you made a statement it's that simple.. That's a violation. Replies to appeals vary in time http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/answers/abuse/guidelines-04.html

That was not a question but a statement and your appeal will be denied losing you another 10 points. Rule is a question seeks knowledge or advice beneficial to all. What you posted was seeking zero

I understand your frustration and do not know why anyone would have reported something so innocuous, On the other hand, I'm not surprised Y!A has been dragging its feet getting back to you. If you wish to post a long question in the future, why not write it as a Word document and then copy/paste it into the question box. Then if you're reported it's a few seconds work to repost the question...
