Why does Yahoo! Answers have a limit?

Why does Yahoo! Answers limit your participation?

  • To me, it seems to defeat the entire point. It makes it have an MMORPG feeling, yet it's simply an engine for spreading information across the 'net, not a game. It's just. . . self defeating. I don't have any problem with there being a point system. . . that makes sense to me. But to limit your participation in an engine of knowledge sharing, based upon how often you participate. . . doesn't anyone else see the faulty logic here?

  • Answer:

yahoo answers limits your participation because they feel that over time you will become a better user & therefore be more deserving of the unlimited question, answers, rates, and votes when you reach level 5. Why the -5 points for asking a question? Use the yahoo answers search engine. Type in "Am I in love?" or "How do I get an avatar?" or "Why is the sky blue?". So many people have asked these questions that they're just a waste of space. they did the -5 points in hopes that people would start using the search engine.
