How likely is it that I could get an account unbanned from Yahoo! answers?
-
Some months ago, I had a several-years-old account banned from Yahoo! Answers. The reason for this was that someone had gone back -- waaaay back (2+ years) -- and marked enough of my long-past answers as inappropriate (even a few that had been Best Answer picks), and a lot of these were very gray area topics (essentially, it was more like some random mod decided they didn't like one of my answers, and then went on a mission to find every single obscure infraction ever). What happened is that because all of these infractions were so old, there was no way for me to "correct the issue", or seek feedback -- so the result was that I lost the several hundred points I'd made in the past two years for debateable issues that occurred when I first opened the account. Typical infractions included "encouraging drug use" on a post where I explained pot was sometimes used as stress relief, or inappropriate sexuality for saying things that you'd find in a middle-school health pamphlet. Is there anyone that actually investigates these issues, or would be requesting to have the account unbanned just result in an automated form message?

Answer:
You have to appeal each violation as it is emailed to you. There arent any moderators on Y!A. Its the users themselves who moderate this site. Once you file an appeal, then Yahoo judges whether the abuse report was legitimate or not. If a person doesnt appeal, then "nature takes its course" and all the automation takes effect. You have to appeal to have a real person step in on the process. This contact info.. can be found on the About tab> Suggestion Board> along the right hand side -gray box [email protected] [email protected] Im not sure, but if you get re-instated, I dont "think" your points do.

Impossible. I've been (unfairly tbh) banned twice and have not gotten either account back. It's really annoying especially because I did nothing wrong in the first place. Makes me lazier with each account on this site, because why should I work on levels and points (something I once found to be fun) if they'll all just get taken away because of reason I'm not even told..?
when you appeal, a real person reviews it but chances of reversal are slim.
