On yahoo answers, whats functional difference between starring a question and putting in watchlist?
-
yahoo answers has recently introduced the feature of allowing user to star a question, and one can see one's starred questions list. one can also put others' questions in one's watchlist. whats the purpose of having both these seemingly similar features?
-
Answer:
Watchlist is private -- starring is public. It let's others see who is interested in a question, so they can "find and follow" each other, so to speak. It also boosts a question up to the POPULAR list on the front page. The Yamsters explain it all here: http://blog.360.yahoo.com/blog-d8pH0dcoRKeB12yOcnUQp.9VCFos?p=16906

When you star a question, other people can click and see that you in particular thought that question worth looking at. It almost functions as an advertisement for the question.
