When were Yahoo answers first started?

Since Yahoo! Answers first started, have they added any additional categories they didn't have to begin with?

  • This question came to mind while categorizing a question I just asked a few moments ago. I'm curious, so I thought I'd see if anyone knows. Thanks! :)

  • Answer:

Looking at the subcategories of Yahoo Products I see yahoo mobile and yahoo pulse which I do not believe existed in 2005. I don't know if subcategories for products such as yahoo 360 or geocities, which have been discontinued, ever existed? Update: thanks to a ya star I just discovered this question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AhJHU8FZU.LVQHZWZg8BQyPty6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20110114192034AAclAIE With the waybackmachine you can look and see exactly what categories existed at whick point in time. So... To answer the question: Yes, there have many categories added (and removed) at Ya over the years :-)

Other answers

Yes, they have - and removed many as well. Bullfighting was removed at the request of the users, who found it offensive and brutal. Horses were added in the Pets section. Many other changes have happened in the categories as well, but those are the 2 I remember the most, since they made such an impact when they happened.

I did notice the Bullfighting Section is no longer around. Other than that don't remember much else.
