How to remove your question from yahoo question/answers?

Why would Yahoo remove a poll question asking, "What is your age?"?

  • I posted a question simply asking, "What is your age?" as a poll question. I asked this question simply to try and determine what the average age of Ansers users was. The question was removed TWICE and I can't figure out why!!!! When I emailed Yahoo 4 times telling them it was removed in error and to please tell me why, they keep sending me the Community Guidelines and Terms of Use links. I have read both of these through and through and there is absolutely NOTHING in there that tells me that is a violation. Can someone please tell me why they would do this since they won't?!

  • Answer:

Asking questions like how are you how old are you what is your sex your weight height are considered private but also it is a violation of the community guidelines. also its considered as chatting.

How about, it reveals the age of users to on-line predators who are constantly looking for young teens and even pre-teens to prey on? Your poll may have been innocent, but it was the same as giving on-line predators a list of potential victims. Think about that. .

I am guessing that a troll reported you for no reason. Or, an user thought it was rude to ask that so they reported you. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with it. P.S. Never count on Yahoo! to give you your points back. They do that pretty much once in every 100 deleted questions.

Who knows! Those guidelines are ridiculous. I too ask a simple questions that isn't in the guidelines and it was deleted!

According to: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/answers/abuse/guidelines-14.html - what is considered "chat"?, your question might be considered chatting, because "how (are you, old are you, was your day, is everyone today)?" are all questions which Yahoo apparently doesn't like to see on here. I'm only wondering, why they couldn't/wouldn't tell you these things when you asked which rules you violated. I understand perfectly, why you would want to know how old some users are. After all, you can register with Yahoo when you are 13 and I've seen Users well into their 60ies - I'm 54 btw...:-)

For no other reason that they can do it. I suspect that mostly low paid interns are monitoring this service. I have found that you give an intern a little responsibility, they either figure out how to make something better or it goes to their head. (rarely something in-between)

Mr. PhD

Because it is a personal question.

I tend to agree that your question was personal, safety, etc. However, my question was deleted and all I wanted to know is how to set the date correctly on my calendar. Maybe someone out there can answer this innocent question - or is this considered "chatting" and also considered a violation of the community guidelines? I know this is the back door....but could someone please tell me why my calendar is on the wrong date. Thanks [email protected]

It probably falls under the "chatting" violation. Did you ask this in Polls & Surveys? If not - that's a violation. However, if you were in Polls and Surveys, Protest as you reply to your violation E-Mail. Stress you were in Polls & Surveys (if you were) Wait a few days & Post in "Appeal a Violation Notice" in Forum.

Because it is chatting, and is one of the examples in the CG's that they specifically point out shouldnt be asked.... Reading the CG's might be illuminating.... Trolls have nothing to do with it... Maybe more than a cursory review would find your answer... I found this link in less than 30 seconds...
