Yahoo! Answers question about the stats / percentages of best answers to "others." (see details)?

  • On the stats it will tell the number of total answers you have given. However, to the left where our answers are listed, there is also a number that tells us our total number of answers listed. You can also click on to see all of your best answers. My questions are the following: 1. Why are the two totals different? Several of my friends have reported this. The stats total does not equal the total on the profile. 2. If I take the total number of best answers and divide by the total number of questions on the "stats," my percentage is significantly higher. I'm a little perplexed. How is the percentage figured? By the total number of answers listed on the stats? Or by the total number of answers listed on the profile page? Either way, I'm not sure they are mathematically accurate. I'm so hoping a Yahoo! Answers Team member will answer so that my friends and I will understand how this works. Thank you! We just wanted to make sure we were looking at this correctly. :)

    I have noticed the discrepancies too. I haven't checked it out properly, but it seems to me that 1. I have many more answers and best answers than the statistics say because the stats are not updated daily (like the leaderboard). In fact, I think the stats haven't been updated all week. 2. I am not sure how the deleted questions that I have answered are handled statistically, but they have disappeared from my homepage.

It's correct. In the "My Stats" it lists the total number of questions answered. In the graph part it shows the number of 'Best Answers' you have received versus the number of answers where "Best Answers" was not received. Adding the two totals together will equal the total as listed at the top next to my stats. Percentages reflect this, the number of 'best answers' divided by the top total times 100 percent will equal the percentage shown rounded to the nearest whole number so percentage could add up to 99 rather than 100.

On mine it says I answered 2,000 something questions when I answered over 5,000!

I think they are including the 'deleted' questions in the stat totals but not in the profile totals.

Hi! You're not going crazy ;) It's a bug. There are a lot of people reporting inconsistencies with the numbers on the My Stats graphs. We are working on a fix and will have everything matching up as soon as possible. Thanks!

I have noticed on mine it does not list all of my best answers. I don't know why. It is just weird. Anywho's, it is something that needs to be worked out. Maybe they will work on it when they are at their "surprise" hotel gathering coming up? :)

The stats for questions asked will reflect the number of questions that have been removed... Or like me, when your whole account gets removed you'll need to start again. Lots of boring morons here now!
