Can you use http://answers.yahoo.com and a version of yahoo answers for another country with ONE account?
-
Short answer is yes, you can (I have), but it's confusing. I've been using the German version of yahoo answers. I thought that I could just switch back and forth between the websites without having to log off, or needing to have more than one account, but now I'm confused. When I am on http://answers.yahoo.com, and I look at the questions I asked, I see all the categories (regarless of which website I asked it on) in English, and similarly, when I'm on http://de.answer.yahoo.com I see all the questions in German. I think I've asked some questions in German on the English site, but I can't tell. Can anyone that uses more than one version of yahoo (I assume versions for other countries or languages have the same problem) clarify what I need to do to avoid confusion?

Answer:
OK, you HAVE to use only one account -- using multiple accounts on Yahoo Answers is a violation. You can 'filter' your incoming questions to a specific area -- like the US -- by using the 'All English' or 'US Only' option when you sign in. I assume the German site MIGHT have something similar? BUT, that won't work on your own questions. The problem is that asking a question (or posting an answer) in German on any English-speaking site -- is considered a violation. As is posting in English on the German site. So you do need to be REAL particular where you are and what language you are using. You can 'code' your own questions by prefacing or ending them with US or DE to indicate where you are when you post them. That may help in the future. For the stuff in the past, you will just have to stay confused, unless you do an extensive search ON THE SITE for the question(s). It can be done, but it will be nasty. I have one other possible 'trick' I'm going to try. If it works, I'll let you know -- and pass on how I did it. <EDIT:> OK, here is what you can do. Click on each of your questions (I see you don't have THAT many). Now, scroll down to the bottom. If they were asked on the GERMAN site, it should say so at the bottom of the page, like this: This question about "Ist Trollen verboten… " was originally asked on Yahoo! Answers Germany
