Why do we have points and levels?

Why people only care about levels and points? Some answers are like 'The answer is your butt'.Why people do it?

  • Some people in yahoo answers answer for points. When i ask some good questions, they answer like comments. Like insulting me. If i ask where can i download a specific software they say 'Go and search in google'. Why people do like this?

  • Answer:

If an answer does not answer the question THAT WAS ASKED, simply report it as 'Pointgaming/Does not answer the question'. Because that's all it is ... a non-responsive answer given for points.

'The answer is your butt'? You really got an answer like that? Most folks just want the two points and anything that vaguely looks like a response is posted as they then scamper into the night

Even tho I'm a participant on here myself, I still think the best way to handle YA! is just to shut it down. There are plenty of other places on the web for these little brats to spew their crap.

They act that way to get individual attention from other people online. YA is a prime feeding ground for narcissists who abuse people online intentionally to make them angry, so that they will respond and feed the bullies' egos even more. Insulting answers should NOT be responded to. They should be reported to Customer Care for violating the Community Guidelines. That's what those Report Abuse buttons in the bottom right hand corner of question/answer windows are for. USE THEM. Yahoo is a computer network. Yahoo staff does NOT read the YA boards. WE ARE THE MODERATORS OF YA. If you do NOT report online abuse to Customer Care or a Yahoo Answers abuse team by e-mail, Yahoo cannot do ANYTHING about the online abuse on YA. USE the Report Abuse buttons, and when you get REALLY pissed off, you can e-mail an abuse team at [email protected] ALL you have to put into the e-mail ire links to the profiles of the accounts that are violating the Community Guidelines, which is a subset of the Yahoo Terms of Service. If you want to include links to specific questions and answers, do that. The abuse team needs the links so they can trace the activity of those accounts on YA. There doesn't have to be anything more in the e-mail than a list of links. If you need to let a little steam off, go ahead. The abuse teams have USUALLY, but not always, heard it all, from the abusers AND the abuse victims. They are live human beings too. DON'T FEED THE TROLLS by responding. REPORT AND MOVE ON. I've seen his scenarios COME TRUE ON YA.
