How do I find another yahoo user or search for people?

Why do people ask questions on yahoo answers that are very easy to find in an Internet search?

  • Are people lazy or do they not know that the internet encyclopaedia exsist. I myself usually ask board based questions that are not listed on a simple search or I try to. Why do people answer questions with answers so far off the mark that are clearly to obtain points?

    i'm here to entertin myself, mostly. but it does help to have many responses to read through, especially for an opinion oriented question. i see yahoo answers as the middle ground between online chatting and the search engine. lots of the answers you get come from search engines anyway, and in between all that you have a chance to laugh at some of the more creative but silly answers. but you gotta have a thick skin, sometimes, because like anything in life, there are gonna be things that pop up that are rude and downright offensive. hell, i wish i had a penny for every time i asked a question that made half of the people laugh, and the other half become abusive.

Maybe it's to do with receiving a personal commentary about something rather than a clinical answer from an internet encyclopaedia. Maybe the answers are more rounded and human. It also feels very much like a community here, much more so than forums sometimes I think. The answers come quickly and there are those who genuinely want to help and give good advice. Unfortunately, like some bad, outdated websites, you have to trawl through some rubbish before you get to some useful stuff.
