What will happen if your account is suspended?

Why was my account suspended?

  • I asked a question in the family section which was "How can I go about disowning my family?" The additional details were "They're ruining my life." It was a SERIOUS question. Apparently guys want nothing to do with me because of my family, so I asked that question. The question was deleted and my account was suspended. Before that, in the whole time I'd had the account, only two of my questions were reported. There doesn't seem to be any logical reason as to why my account was suspended. People on here ask questions that are a million times worse. I report those questions, and yet they never even get deleted, but my innocent and serious question was deleted and I was suspended. I appealed the suspension, but what gives? Why did this happen?

  • Answer:

Only Yahoo knows for sure but. Suspension pretty much means you are finished with that YA account although unless it is extremely serious in most cases you can continue to use the email address. You can appeal but that is rarely successful, You might be best to forget it and start over again with a new account.Yahoo doesn't seem to play favourites, it doesn't matter if you have been a member for day, a week,a month or years or are a top contributor the same rules apply to everyone. It also doesn't seem to matter the number of violations but more the severity or perceived severity of the violations. Yahoo takes a dim view of SPAM, bigotry, pornography , being underage 13, insulting other members, racism, cheating, anything that even borders on illegal such as drugs even soft drugs, downloading movies, music programs etc. or links to that kind of stuff Any of that can mean a speedy exit. If you are suspended Yahoo does not give a specific reason for the suspension. it can be a serious violation to have more than one YA account. If they are misused It is considered to be cheating and If you do all your accounts could be suspended http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/answers/abuse/abuse-249517.html;_ylt=Ag1MyvoNQNX_1ok8kgYC2rBujSN4 you have seven days to appeal. It is not a very ''positive'' action to disown own family. However your question was not really a violation because itsn't against community guidelines. You can get suspended from this site if you violate community guidelines http://answers.yahoo.com/info/community_guidelines . So you can be suspended for anything: from posting spam to obscenities to insulting other members. The best way to have your suspended account is to email yahoo!Team directly and give an explanation why your account has to be reactivated and why you consider unjust the suspension. That way Y!Team can discuss the details of the suspension in private, and try to work towards an understanding.

My guesses are: You are under 13. You have more than one account. You have a history of asking/answering using violating content that previously went unnoticed and unreported until someone brought it to the attention of the yahoo staff. The question you asked about, though serious, is a chat violation, but suspensions are rarely given to chatters.

you have to appeal...many times, to get by the automated system and get your account back
