Why does asking a question cost us 5 points?!?

How come to ask a question it costs 5 points because if noone ever asked questions them there wouldn't be a yahoo answers would there.If you don't ask then you'll never know so how come we have to lose points because we need to know the answer to something.Please could someone who works on yahoo answers answer my question aswell.

Taking points off for asking a question is to encourage you to do two things: 1. Answer more (which gains you points) 2. Think more about the type of questions you ask ie. ask something sensible rather than silly.

I think it may be so people don't start asking unlimited stupid questions, kinda keeps things in check with the points, so you have to answer some to gain your points back, if that makes any sense!

As far as getting a reply from the staff, good luck. Ther rules are that asking costs five BUT you get three back when you choose Best Answer, so it really only costs two

they're encouraging to help each other and share wisdom and info-, or just opintions, rather than us asking questions like "is christianity a hoax" (im not religious but really, its not an original question to ask), or "who's the hottest girl aloud?" edit: sorry, im sleepy, ill correct my spellings now.

To stop people asking frivolous questions, and only serious ones, as you can see from other questions it works a treat.

Pick a best answer and you get 3 points back so it only really costs you 2 points. Don't wait for someone from YA to respond as they don't exist. This site is run by robots.
