How do you turn off yahoo news?

Hi. Lately, whenever I check my Yahoo email, I get relegated back to Yahoo! News or the Yahoo portal. Their feature stories are so idiotic, chosen by obviously demented and stupid people, that I am wondering whether there is any way to turn it off, short of switching free email services. (Unfortunately, I have been using Yahoo! email for years, so I am knee-deep in their service). Apparently, reading the comments section of most Yahoo News articles shows I am not the only one. Any ideas? Thanks!

You don't say where or how you are being 'relegated' back to the News. If you are bouncing out of your email without asking to be, It is possible that you have a bad cache file. Clear your history, temporary files (be patient) & cookies, then restart the computer and retry. This HELP link has instructions: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/yahoomail/settings/settings-15.html . If you are LANDING on the News page when you enter your email, you can CHANGE that option in the new email (top left of page) to open directly into your INBOX instead. If you are going there when you sign OUT of your email - you can't change that, sorry.
