How Do You Become a Top Contributor?

I have been answering questions like crazy and I have seen some people who have this little orange sticker that said TOP CONTRIBUTOR on it. I am only at level on but I was wondering how many points you need to be a top contributor! Also if you are a top contributor do you get to be on the leaders board?? Any help you be so great. Thanks!

The 'Top Contributor' badge isn't permanent - it comes and goes (on Monday mornings) depending on your recent activity level here, and it reflects both quality and quantity of participation in a given category over the last few weeks. You can have up to 3 't.c.' badges at one time, although none are given in 'Polls&Surveys'. Yahoo doesn't make the formula public (and it can change without notice), but the current best guess on the specifics of the requirements is 1) about 30 or more answers per week in the category, 2) at least 20 'best answers' (some say a 'B.A.%' of 10 or better) in the category within the last 3 weeks, and 3) 200 or more total points per week (including all answers, B.A.s, votes, and 'thumbs ups') in the category. Focus your efforts in no more than three lowest-level categories where you can give high-quality answers. Keep at it, and you can have a badge soon! Added: While many people on the leaderboards ARE TCs, they certainly don't HAVE to be. Leaderboard placement is determined strictly by the overall points you've earned, either during the past week or lifetime, in ALL categories (not just up to 3).

There is no specific amount of points that you need to be a top contributor, there are people in level 2 who are top contributors and there are people in level 7 who are not. To become one, pick one category in which you think you're good at and answer A LOT of questions in that category. Also, make sure you give good answers so you get a lot of best answers. If you answer a lot of questions in that category and get a best-answer percentage of at least 10%, you'll get your TC badge in a couple of weeks. The badge is not permanent, if you stop answering questions in that category or if you don't get any best answers for a while, you'll lose the badge and you'll have to repeat the process stated above to earn it back.
