How do I enable Yahoo! Answers email communications?

  • Please explain the process exactly. I've tried everything and can't do it. I can't find a "privacy & communications" tab like they say to look for. I want to receive and send emails to people who responded to my questions and to people who I answered their questions. Who ever helps me gets 10 points - best answer. Thank you.

    Answers offers the options of using an email forwarding system to help protect privacy, or using Yahoo! Messenger (IM). It depends on each user's communications settings; often users won't allow communications. If they allow it and you have your own email or IM enabled, you can chat with somebody that way if they choose to respond. To enable your email or IM go to My Activity > Edit My Preferences > Privacy & Communications. http://answers.yahoo.com/my-activity/edit/settings;_ylt=AqoKlAz_7aaIOil1cJI4mEzg1KIX;_ylv=3 Check the boxes next to "Via Email" and/or "Via Yahoo! Messenger" and Submit. Then in order for you to email or IM somebody they will have to have done the same thing. If you click on their avatar it will take you to their profile, and if their email or IM is enabled there will be an email and/or an IM link there. (edit) I redid the link, it should take you right to your Edit My Preferences page but it looks like the site is glitching by cutting off everything in the URL after "my activity". So after clicking on it add the following to the URL you will see displayed in your browser: "/edit/settings;_ylt" and "=AqoKlAz_7aaIOil1cJI4mEzg1KIX;_ylv=3" Or try again in a little while. And when you click on the blue Edit My Preferences link, you should see the Privacy & Communications tab just to the right of the About You tab, underneath where it says in big letters "Edit My Preferences: About You".
