How do I appeal a TOS violation?

How was this in violation of the CG or ToS?

  • This is the appeal form I sent in response to a violation notice, which was turned down: Deleted Question: Spiritually Speaking, what do you do to cheer yourself up when you're feeling rainy? Question Details: Violation Reason:Community Guidelines and/or Terms Of Service Violation Hello and good morning. I received a violation notice for the above question this morning. After carefully reviewing the Terms of Service and Community Guidelines, I have concluded that this question did NOT violate any of the ToS of CG. I feel it was an appropriate question to ask in the Religion & Spirituality forum because I was asking what other Religion & Spirituality users did to spiritually rejuvenate themselves when they were feeling sad or, to use my term, "rainy." Furthermore, I am a rather recognizable figure in the Religion & Spirituality forum and I feel that my question was reported simply because someone does not like me, and not because it was a question that legitimately violated the rules of Yahoo! Answers. I hope you will see how I mean when I say that this violation was not appropriate, and will reconsider both the content deletion and point deduction. Thank you. I still don't see what was wrong with the question, and I still think I made a good case. Did they even read my appeal form?

  • Answer:

The question, "Spiritually Speaking, what can a person do to cheer themselves up when they are feeling rainy?" would be a great question. It would get answered by facts that could benefit all people and may contain good ideas that may include things people have read outside their personal experience. You version is asking the personal info of the users and that is how "chat" is defined on YA. Always ask your question non-personal and you will not get violations. Also, be careful using the "Spiritually speaking" at the beginning. There was a movement on YA who thought adding that protected against chat violations. They then asked things like "Spiritually speaking, what color is your room?" Chat is chat, no matter the category.

Yes that looks like a chat question, not that I would report it. It would be considered as chat because it is not a question that would be of benefit to the community...it you look at this it may help. http://help.yahoo.com/l/uk/yahoo/answers/abuse/guidelines-14.html

I see your point...I wonder, DID they even read the appeal form? I don't see how your question, accurately placed in the religion/spirituality category, was against the CG or ToS. But then again, this is the very reason many users are refusing to use Y! Answers (aside from the inappropriate spammers who are beginning to just spam in any old question instead of one relating to their spam subject like before.) Do I smell a Y! Boycott coming?

Someone reported that question for chatting so it got deleted.

Clown Prince of Crime

It is clearly chit chat and thus against the TOS. The violation was appropriate
