How does Yahoo Answers sort their answers?

Should Yahoo answers sort out it's priority's....................…

  • There is a complete an utter dic*head who is posting racist jokes constantly at the moment (K-MAN). His so called jokes stay posted long enough for thousands of people to read them. Yet some of us are getting violations for really innocuous reasons and questions removed immediately. Yahoo needs to sort it out!

  • Answer:

Totally. This is a burning issue at the moment.. initially i thought it was just me getting all worked up about such stuff. After some questions and answers regarding the violations policy, i discovered i am not alone. From what i see, its more of a popular choice thing out here. Whatever humours the majority..so be it. Pity that common sense is not so common. This quote describes the current system well: A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools. I agree that simple questions are getting deleted and the rotten ones not. yahoo say in their new reporting rules that if anyone is a "good reporter" and they report questions of violators enough times they get made top reporter....could this be the case. that some people have been made top reporter and can just get anyones questions deleted. i was away to answer a question two days ago and by the time i had written out my answer which was only three lines long....the question had been deleted ten minutes after it had been asked. There was no reason for that to be deleted, it was only because it was a muslim woman directing us to a you tube video which showed a muslim comedian who was very funny. it wasn't racist, in fact the guy was taking the mickey out of himself. when she asked a further one asking why it had vanished it had gone too. yesterday there was a queston about Scottish independence asked by an Englishman, all the replies were anti Scottish up until i signed off, some written by people on here who i thought were nice, so i answered it politely saying that English people live in Scotland too and i have a lot of English friends. I also said how i was shocked by the answers from some people. When i came on to check it this morning the question had gone. I did not delete it, but it shouldn't have been deleted. OK there was a lot of hatred of Scots in the answers, but it was a debate, surely we Scots are not going to go down the road of "if we don't like some English people not liking us" we are just going to report it. I was looking forward to seeing the rest of the answers. But of course there were maybe ones that i didnt see that made someone report it as i went to work straight after i gave my reply. anyway i've rattled on too much as usual, but lets get this yahoo sorted out. Do you think they would reply to anyone who asked them, i have e mailed plenty times about things i have got delelted and recieved no reply from them

I totally agree with you- this stupid, white trash American girl was really rude in her response to my (polite) question so i told her a few home truths. Next minute my question had been zapped by Yahoo Room 101 and, when I asked my next question ("does anyone think this is unfair?") they zapped that too, DIDN'T EVEN LET IT COME UP AS A QUESTION! It was strangled at birth.... Good luck finding stealthier ways to get your valid point across.

'Morning Mr Boombastic Mungbean, I have not seen this guy's posts. Don't think I want to if they of of that nature. YA should sort things out. People get their Q.'s messed up and others get violations just because another member is feeling spiteful. It should be sorted -PDQ!.

Van der Elst

I agree.

I, too have had several questions removed because they called it solicitation, and all I was trying to do was get back in touch with this one reader who may be a cousin of mine. But yet I've seen questions left on here with people stating they were selling Yugioh cards on eBay and one where a girl was commenting to her boyfriend, Terrell, that he was supposed to meet her at their school "an hour ago" and "where was he?" Since I was cited, I reported these two which I felt was solicitation more so than mine. They do need to get their priorities straightened out and be consistent with what they are doing. It seems ridiculously unfair at times.

I agree with all that has been said here. Yahoo do not really care as long as people are using their site. As one who is really naive here .........do you really get to be a top contributor if you report questions ?? Seems maybe a tad daft to say the least !! Ach well guess I won't be that pathetic to be one of them then ! Have a star x
