Is it pretty much impossible to get a suspended account back?
-
My account was suspended last night. I got a violation for a totally legitimate question. The reason given was "adult content" and I can 100% guarantee that there was NOTHING ADULT AT ALL about that question. It wasn't reported, it was removed by Yahoo themselves. I was a TC and nearly at level 6; I'm so annoyed about this because it was a completely unfair violation. I can understand why accounts get suspended for adult content, but my question wasn't adult in the slightest! I appealed, but I doubt they even read those things. I've never heard of someone getting an account back. Is it even possible? =[

Answer:
Holy ****! I have never expected to see you in this section before! So they've taken you down as well huh? Morons :@ Yes, they do tend to just "skim" through the appeals and hit the "Decline" button. However, you should bug them till they check it. Did you appeal for your correctly with all the details? If not, then do it again, and send Yahoo! a message if necessary. It is not necessary that you have violated the Community Guidelines or the Terms of Service. There are some mean and nasty jealous people, who report innocent posts either for: -Fun -Hatred -Jealousy Yahoo! is a bit unfair with violations now, and a lot of innocent posts are being removed simultaneously every day. Everyone has fallen victim. Yahoo! does not restore them, but if you are really lucky, you can have your post restored, if it really was in no way against the CG or the TOS. Since you didn't mention which question of yours was deleted (not the exact wording) , we can't tell you whether it was indeed a legit question or an illegitimate one. You can email Yahoo! Answers team and ask them why it was removed. email them at to this address: ◄ [email protected] ► NOTE: answrs without an "e" is correct. You should appeal for your question+account. If you are lucky, you will have your question reinstated, which will reinstate your account. Use this form to appeal for your question: •< http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/answers/first_appeal.html >• Click on this link to open up an image with instructions (better download and zoom it since it’s not clear on the web) •< http://i301.photobucket.com/albums/nn60/Genius712/Yahoo%20Answers%202009/YahooAnswersAppealForm.jpg?t=1238345041 >• Choose "Question Deletion" as the subject for the first appeal, and then appeal again using the same form, to appeal for your account. Choose "Account Suspension". Copy+Paste the violation notice you have received, and state your reason why you think it was not against the CG/TOS. Read the Community Guidelines: •< http://answers.yahoo.com/info/community_guidelines >• Read the Terms of Service: •< http://ca.docs.yahoo.com/info/tos.html >• I wish you all the very best, and hope you get your account reinstated soon. I know how you feel. I was at level 6 with TC badge for 3 categories once, and Yahoo! deactivated my account for "faking" my age. At least you didn't have your Yahoo! ID deactivated. They never reinstated mine, but again, I violated their Terms of Service "unintentionally". They never consider these things. Now that you've been suspended once, I think you may have a stalker. So you need to take special care when you ask or answer. At least make sure your questions are not violating the Guidelines. Answers can be overlooked most of the time. PS: Wait for at least 48 hours for a reply..if you don;t get one, or they decline your appeal, bug them a lot. Some people managed to get their account back after proving their point (but it has to be legit). If possible, email me about the violation that has resulted in your suspension. Also, read this post by a regular user of the Suggestion Board for more details on how to appeal. •< http://suggestions.yahoo.com/detail/?prop=answers&fid=103389 >• Good luck! You too? I got my level 5 account suspended this morning. Maybe Yahoo just got out of the wrong side of bed this morning - but who's bed? I didn't really write anything seriously offensive but it's hard to be polite sometimes when you consider what some people write. Even more annoying is the fact that Yahoo do nothing about them, I suppose that they're too busy suspending everyone else's accounts. They never read anyone's appeals, that much is clear. You'll just get an automated 'appeal denied' email that contains no explanation, 10 points deducted and probably a threat to remove your email account and set your PC on fire. Maybe I will take up trolling since they accuse me of it - there seems no point in trying to build my score up again because they'll suspend me again anyway. Grrr!

It is possible, but takes a day and an age. You're best off just moving on with your new account. I'm so sorry that happened to you, you seem like a nice person. I also got an account suspended for no good reason, and was distraught because I lost track of most of my good contacts. Good luck, Luca.

I had my account reinstated after about a year. I got banned for asking about fat peoples toilets! Just keep sending them emails to beg for it back!

I'm not one hundred percent sure, but you should be able to get it back. If it was just suspended, that should mean that it will be unsuspended (unsuspended isn't a word?) eventually. I'm pretty sure I've seen some R&S people using their accounts after I heard about them being suspended. It was usually a few weeks later, though. If it gets deleted, then you wouldn't get it back.

Yes, I don't understand 'ADULT' ... I got that twice now ... they could at least give me (any others) a more detailed and acceptable reason. If you get your exam paper removed, you'd want a better reason other than 'ADULT'?? Anyway, nice to have you back and good luck against the moderation team.

I appealed when mine was adult, didn't get it back (ofcourse) but the important thing is, they do respond, and if there was really nothing bad about it, you will get it back, good luck.
Revolutionist
it is impossible to get it back. suspended is Y!A language for banned. your question was probably reported by a troll.
Dude
Good luck! I've known some people that got their accounts back but it took a while. I tried appealing but failed.

It may be something you could appeal. What I'm seeing more and more is individual attacks on a user by trolls. Yahoo often tends to make the federal government look sprightly. I sent them a message about a user that was threatening suicide. It only took two months for someone to notice it, and tell me how I could put the person in contact with a suicide prevention line. I'm glad the person wasn't in a hurry. And you seem to have been targeted in this case. Y!A works off servers, which are programmed to look for keywords. So if a person has multiple accounts, and is just torqued at you for some reason, they could report you, log off, and then log back with a different account and report you for the same reason. You may have to do what several people are doing and start dodging around using different screen names and avatars. Someone's aiming at people with TC badges, which is why I hate mine. My account could be suspended by the time I get back from tonight's barbecue. D
