Why do we have points and levels?

Why the hell do we need points and levels?

  • Answer:

    Humans need to feel like they're "progressing" even if it's artificial. It's sort of a lure to keep us here and answering if we feel like we're gaining from it, by achieving points. But they really mean nothing. It's not like there's a brand new car waiting at the end of this "game". lol But still, we try and try just to "get to the next level", as though it will be meaningful to us, even though it won't. I think it's used as a lure to keep us answering questions and voting and to deter us from deleting answers or asking too many nonsensical questions. Now, are YOU going to make MY answer worth my while by giving me 10 valuable points for it? LOL

I don't feel that we need levels, but points are nessaseary (Spelled wrong) to show who's answers are good, and who's aren't.

When you get to Level 7, you get to become a yahoo answers nazi. If you get to Level 0, yahoo answer nazis show up at your door and beat your mercilessly.

We don't but some people like a reward system and not everyone uses this site for the same purposes.

I don't know. I was wondering that myself. I think the whole points things is stupid, it just makes people give out meaningless answers just so they can get another point.
