Violation Question?

How can Y!A delete my question without giving me a reason for violation?

  • I just recieved an email telling me that my most recent question was deleted. Here's the question...and the reason for violation (nothing) Question: Is there a current or retired player from your team...? Question Details: Who you think should have their own "day"? Today is Bobby Doerr's 90th birthday and it's Bobby Doerr day in Oregon today. http://boston.redsox.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20080407&content_id=2501798&vkey=news_bos&fext=.jsp&c_id=bos So, any players from your team who should have their own day? Oh, and be sure to mention what the date of that day is (birthday, MLB debut, final game, etc.) This is just for fun. Thanks. :) 2008-04-08 13:26:50Additional Red Sox lover-- I totally and completely agree! #6 needs to be retired. Johnny Pesky means so much to Sox fans. If anyone should break the Sox' rules for retired numbers, it's Pesky! Violation Reason: Can Y!A really delete my question without giving me a reason for violation?

  • Answer:

That's terrible. Your question is in no way offensive to me, and I offend as easily (if not as irrationally) as the next person. It amazes me that your question would be deleted and questions like "Why is Obama a Muslim?" - something which is not only ignorant but is so obviously not a legitimate question - are left on the board. I tend to agree with the other person who answered saying that it's a largely automatic function that happens when someone complains. And if that's the case, what's the point of posting here at all? It seems this system - like so many others - is designed to dumb down the participants and force us all to the lowest possible level.

I cant stand when they do that. Theres absolutely no reason. They just delete it if somebody reports it. Yahoo answers doesnt even look at it. absolutely pathetic.

Big Papi

Challenge it, and hopefully, an actual person will look at it. I don't see anything wrong with your question.

Professor X

If you challenge it nothing wil happen. They will send a form Letter to you like this one "Hello, Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Answers. We strive to provide a positive experience for everyone who participates in Yahoo! Answers. In order to investigate this issue, we will need the Yahoo! ID that you use on the Yahoo! Answers site. This information will help us to assist you. We apologize for any inconvenience. Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Answers. Regards, Carmen Yahoo! Customer Care 47114522" And youll send the info they request and then Jack Poop will happen... For such a huge Site, That has billions of dollars, you would Think that yahoo could afford to put Moderators in here. Like CBS sportlsline has, and Foxsportsnet have, and pretty much EVERY other Blogging or discussion board has... My Thing has always been that there are people here with 5000 points or more and are classy individuals in their behavior, why not Ask them to Moderate the Board,, Get The Mick, Professor, Greta, Craig S, etc... To Moderate on and Police the Baseball Board. give them the power to Block sumone Permanently, and the same for the Other Boards, i GUARANTEE you you would see ALOT less Of the Malicious and Spiteful Garbage that goes on here going on.

Challenge Y/A! Make them give you a reason for the deletion. Did you get my email? I had posted a question recently about people with several accounts and answering their own questions just to pile up points. Someone, and I know who it was, reported me and the Y/A geniuses deleted my question. A question that could have helped to improve the situation in here.

The Mick "7"

It TRULY is B.S. This site has been so overrun with trolls who go around, and if they don't like you, report you. Thumbs down galore, for an opinion, I don't give thumbs down for an opinion, if I don't agree, I still don't thumb down. I really don't know Greta, I really don't know.

Can they delete you without a reason or a violation? Yes. Happens to me all the time courtesy of the little buggers living under bridges. When it happened to me I was told that it was due to reporting by other users though a clear violation may or may not have occurred. I guess you may or may not of stepped on a land mine, obvious right. If it is "not a question" customer care removes the offensive material. They care, they really do. I think you were too chatty, being too smart, having too much fun, clever and are female. How DARE you!

Terri Yaki

Yup..this is the joys of Y!A...I honestly believe they don't actually have "rules"..there is just some guy on his computer deleting stuff as he sees fit. I've had lagit Q&A deleted AND when I contested it it was denied. I've had lagit Q&A deleted, contested, and overturned...I've had chatty Q&A deleted (i didn't contest..so whatever). I've been trying to figure out Y!A's system...and I think the system is they have no system.

?Lem?ny?

Greta Its their playing field. I've had several violations on questions that were ridiculous. It is what it is.

I just had an answer deleted simply b/c the asker didn't like my answer. There was nothing offensive about my answer and it didn't violate any of Y! A!'s rules. The reason I was given was "it is not a question or an answer." I challenged it, b/c my answer obviously WAS an answer. Then I posed the question here asking how an asker could just delete an answer b/c they didn't like the answer, and my question was actually deleted! Probably by the person that deleted my answer, just to get back at me, b/c she's that childish. Again, the reason I was given, "it is not a question or an answer." So again I challenged it with Y! A! All you can really do is laugh it off that someone was that immature that they felt they had to delete your answer, and challenge it with Y! A!
