Why do people on YA ask lame questions when they could just use a search engine instead to find the answer?

What do you call noise? Something like this: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=1005121100425 or this: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=1005120804349 The first has little value to anyone and the 2nd you could look up on a search engine! ;-) Update: forgot to say that there is a Report Abuse link for obvious spammers/noise and that you have to realise we have everyone here from little kids to seniors - just because they don't ask what you value or don't know how to search how you do, does not make them less valid than you. The biggest issue with folks here is that they don't search what's already been asked and answered before asking the same thing again - just look at how many times "Why is the sky blue?" has been asked. This is probably a failing of the UI, which puts the search box way down low on the left of the page with little clue to what it actually does. Update2: Hehe - Scott you're pretty funny. Just took a look at each of our profile pages and you answer 4.6 questions for every one asked, while I have a ratio sitting at 5.4 answers per question. So who is making more noise with their questions? Take it easy and enjoy the product. Vanity because they can a) get exposed on the site and b) acrue points and claim to be a point leader, and laziness because they'ed rather let someone else do the work it takes to filter through search engine results.

I'll go out on a limb and open myself up for attack and say that people are doing it for the points. Yahoo seriously needs to consider some type of revision to the point system they have here. Such as using your points to "buy" the right to post a question and distributing the points among the best and worst answers that the person who asked it could assign, more for good, less for bad.
