What is the best way to become a pilot.?

IDK of any "Best Way". I went through a University program in Aviation, in Canada, because the training was excellent, and student loans were available. I also know of Military pilots who have been trained not only for free, but went to Military college, and got paid wages the entire time (Canada). I also have friends who have gone the flying club route, also got excellent training, did a degree in something else, and flew when they had the time/money. The only thing I can say is that no matter which route you take, you want a 4-year degree in something... (I was once told it can be in basket weaving if you want, but it must be a degree) And you want to make sure that the maintenance and safety standards are very high at the school where you learn. No point in saving money if you get yourself killed before you graduate.

Fastest and cheapest, well in order to gain your CPL and get enough flying hours to fly comercial aircraft your looking at around £120,000 start to finish and a starting wage of about £35,000. there are quite a few schools out there who can offer a complete package and offer finance packages to help you on your way. as for a degree in aviation, your more likely to get on by having good grades at school then college studying maths physics and geography, then maybe a degree in maths or physics. from there the cheapest route would be to join the airforce as a pilot and get type rated on somthing like a C130J you'll probably have to serve 6 years but then you can leave and do a conversion course and use your resetlement money to get your hours up. either way it's getting harder to get into and i know CPL holders who have been certified for over 5 years and are still teaching PPL courses as they can't get work. Not sure where you are, but this company is in MN and it is what I am looking into as well (PPL). Just start looking around at different university's & airports in your area.
