What does it take to become an air traffic controller?

• What requirements do you have to meet to become an air traffic controller? And what exactly do you have to do? From my understanding they either require a college education or 3 years or air force service in order to qualify to take the exam to start your training. That's good because I never envisioned myself going to college but rather joining the air force anyway. Also, what does it take to become an air traffic controller for the military? I was reading up on it and there is really no info on that but it seems like the best route to go if I want to become a civilian air traffic controller, because it's easier to qualify as all you would need to do is pass a few physicals. If you found that hard to understand, here's what I want to do. High School>Air Force(to train to become an ATC)>become air force ATC>apply for FAA ATC>become a civilian air traffic controller

  Requirements to become ATC are pass the AT-SAT, pass the background check, pass the physical, pass the schooling, pass the training at the facility. There is no requirement for college or military. If you go the military ATC route first you can become a civilian ATC if you pass the training at the civilian facility.
