Air Traffic Control?

How can i find out what the clasification is of the Air Traffic Control Tower that i work in?

  • How can I find out what the classification is of the Air Traffic Control Tower that I work in? I am an Air Traffic Controller in the Army and I am trying to submit an application with the FAA (I am only about 6 months from ETS) and one of the questions that was asked on the application is what the level of Air Traffic Control Tower that I currently work in. I am currently the training supervisor for the Tower and GCA and I think this is a good thing to add to my training program; however I have looking all over the internet and was not able to find out the classification of the tower or how it is determined. My next step after this is calling the FAA to find out, but, I was hoping that someone on here would be able to answer my question or at least point me in the right direction. Also if anyone out there is in the FAA and will be looking for a new Controller soon please e-mail me. I am open to any location. (I apologize for the shameless plug haha)

  • Answer:

I think what they are asking is are you a tower, ground, approach/departure controller?

It is strange that you would not know what class of facility you work in, but if I was in that situation, I would ask my supervisor.
