Answer:
The two things that you need to know is what gate and what time. Don't rely on your watch, as you might be in a different time zone. On your ticket/boarding pass will be a terminal letter, and a gate number, say E-18. Know that the E stands for terminal E, and the 18 stands for gate 18 in terminal E. There may very well be an A-18, B-18, C-18,... So both the number and letter are important. Also know that sometimes there are last minute gate changes, so you will want to confirm on the Flight Informations Display Screens (FIDS), your gate of departure, estimated time of departure, and status. They are all through the airport. You mention that you are flying standby. This means that you are probably not a revenue passenger, and are traveling on someone's passes. Don't be a pain in the drain, but do be an hour or so early to the gate, be fairly well dressed, be very polite. Where passes are concerned, gate agents can get away with a lot, and if you give them reason to dislike you, they can take it out on you. Be visible so they don't forget you, but don't be obnoxiously visible. If you are uncertain, find someone in uniform, and ask. You don't state your age, but, especially if you are young, beware of people who are not in uniform. Take with you some comfort things like favorite pillow, I-pod, gameboy. It will all be very exciting for a little while, and then you will be bored to tears. Have things to occupy your time. As has already been said, you are more likely to have an auto wreck on the way to the airport, than you are to be injured at the airport, or while flying. The safest mode of transportation available. Good Luck and Enjoy!

Well the first thing you do is CHILL! If you panic it just makes everything worse. Going around the airport is confusing. But don't be afraid to ask people for directions Get there early to so you can be outside your gate and ready to go so you dont miss your flight!

Urtle the Turtle...... before you answer please read the question. BTW it's Aviate, Navigate and Communicate. The order is important.

Don't be scared. Flying commercially is the safest mode of transportation, way safer than driving an automobile, and you do that every day, don't you? If you drive, your chances of dying in a crash during your trip are about 24 times higher than if you go by airplane. Your chances of being in a fatal aircraft accident during your trip is extremely small--about the same as winning the Virginia lottery in seven plays. You hear and read about every single aircraft crash in the news because it is so rare, it makes the news. If you read about every single automobile crash, can you imagine how many newspapers you'd have to receive on your doorstep everyday just to cover that in the US alone? Bring things to read, a snack and your ipod. Try to take a nap or talk to your neighbors. Get up and take walks up and down the aisles. Try to stop worrying about flying. You can medicate yourself before you board, that’s always an option. Flying is very safe. Much safer than driving anywhere, try not to worry.

I was in the same boat - (ha ha) as you not so long ago, I would; Do all my checks out aloud, Remember; Aviate Communicate Navigate Remember radio calls Remember downwind Checks Its hard to say this but if your instructors trust you with one of their planes then you shouldn’t be nervous. Trust me , the plane sounds/acts a little different I.E lighter and sounds different without a instructor in it... Have Fun !!

Pray b4 you leave the house. Talk a ipod or a psp. And buy a Maxim magazine. You'll be str'8.

well ask the flight attendant to sit with you. it only cost 75 dollars extra to your ticket price. Or just walk with Jesus.
