How much do airline pilots get paid?
-
Im interested in doing it for a career^^, also can anyone tell me how many hours they work?

Answer:
A regional airline copilot will start out at around $20,000 per year, works about 60 duty hours per week, and flies about 70 hours a month. A major airline captain usually makes around $150,000 per year, works about 40 duty hours per week and flies about 60 hours a month. It will take you at least a couple years after you get ALL your ratings to make it to the regional airline copilot level. It will take a few more years after that to make it to regional captain level. It will take a few more years after that to make it to the major airlines as a copilot. IF you make it that far, then it can take anywhere from 5 to 15 years to make captain. To summarize, on average (unless you're ex-military) it will take 10-20 years flying lesser positions before you can become a major airline captain and make the "big money". Be aware that payscales vary greatly with seniority and equipment flown, so these are "ballpark" estimates.

This question is asked quite a bit on Answers. Basically, it all comes down to your seniority, which aircraft type you operate and which airline you fly for. The number of horus you fly depends on the airline, but it is generally around 70-80 hours a month. I'm going to use Southwest as an example. In your first year as captain you make around 160 grand. In your 12th year you make around 200 grand. As you can see, seniority plays an important roll, because each year that you fly for that airline you make more money. Also, it depends on the aircraft type you fly, for example a 747 pilot would make more than a 737 pilot would. (Southwest does only has 737's in their fleet). Go to www.airlinepilotcentral.com to figure out pilot salaries for different airlines.
You can visit www.airlinepilotcentral.com to see the different payscales of various airlines. When calculating pilot pay, remember that regional airline pilot's usually fly an average of 75 hours a month.............and major/legacy airline pilot's fly an average of 65 hours a month.

Didn't you allready ask how much they get paid? The hours pilots work is very difficult to describe. You won't really understand it until you live it. But, the FAA has limits, 8 hours a day, 30 hours in 7 days, 100 hours a month, and 1000 hours a year. If you fly corporate jets, the hours are different.
