If I were to be an experienced pilot, what are the chances I could get a job and fly in Switzerland?
-
I am now 18, and growing more sick of the United States of America each day. I feel the country is going in the complete opposite direction of one that I would want to be a citizen of. I wish more than anything that someone such as the likes of a Ron Paul could lead us in a different direction, but I really do not see it happening. I love Switzerland, and everything about the country. I strongly believe that they have got things right, and it would be a hell of a place to call home. If I was a trained, experienced and able commercial pilot, do you guys think there would be a chance? I have all the connections, help and everything I could need to get to that status. My dad has been a pilot for 25 years, and is a flight instructor now. He was a captain and flew commercial jets for Eastern Airlines back in the day. If I were to move in the direction he did, would I maybe stand a chance in the job market over there?

That is difficult to predict as it highly depends how the airline industry is doing by the time you would like to immigrate to Switzerland. As you might know the airline market is quite volatile. If the industry is growing many airlines have difficulties to find qualified pilots. Then the chances for a qualified foreigners to get a job are very good. On the other hand if the airline market is declining airlines have to close routes and fire pilots. Then it is almost impossible for a foreigner to find someting. Pilot is certainly a great profession and the dream job of many. However I suggest you to think for some other good options as many applicants fail in the pilot training selection procedure. By the way: If you love Switzerland that much you could come here for an exchange year. That would certainly be a great experience. Good luck.

That's the spirit. Give up and then go to a country and sit on a fence. That way you don't have to do anything, make decisions do any hard work. Maybe you are the problem with that kind of attitude. Why not ask your dad? He seems to have a lot of experience in aviation or are you here just to complain?
