How do SkyMiles work?

Delta Skymiles enrollment?

  • We are taking a trip in May of next year to Miami, we recently signed up for a SkyMiles card. We're flying with delta. I was reading somewhere that you get 25,000 miles with enrollment. How exactly does that work?? What is eligible that we can purchase to redeem the miles? Thanks :-)

  • Answer:

On you SkyMiles card, there should be your Delta frequent flier number. Go to delta.com. Click on the SkyMiles tab on the far right. Select Book Award Trip. Good luck getting an award ticket for 25,000 miles. If any are available, you flight will leave at 11:59 p.m. or at 5 a.m. and you will have 15 hour layover in Duluth. For more convenient award flights you will need a lot more miles. Better way to use your SkyMiles is to use the Pay with Miles option, where you pay all or part of your fare with your miles. However, while I don't know where you are, lots of airlines serve Miami area and good fares can be found, though not as good as in the past. Your SkyMiles do have some value, so it maybe cheaper to buy a ticket then to use your miles. You can get stuff with your miles, like a Toshiba DVD player/recorder for 29,200 miles.

Why didn't you read it when you signed up? Go to the website and read it again. You can buy anything. Believe it or not, and I am not making this up, there is a travel category in Answers. The aircraft category is for technical questions about airplanes, and uh, oh yea, RC airplanes, Kamikaze helmets, flight simulators, being a scared to fly, how to become a pilot, yadda, yadda, yadda.
