Where to find resume templates?

Help with pilot resume?

  • Hi. I'm a recent graduate of Centennial College's Professional Pilot Program. I have a CPL, with a Group 1 instrument rating, and also a night rating. I'm not quite sure how I'd go about creating a resume for this. I know there are general templates, but I imagine there is a different format for this. I've searched for some on the internet, but can't seem to find too many. If any pilots would be willing to give me a hand, or even possibly let me take a look at theirs to get an idea, that'd be great. In order to contact me, the e-mail is [email protected] Thanks in advance.

They don't teach you how to do that in the college program? They should! What I do is I make two columns at the top of the resume. First is for licenses, numbers, ratings and expiries. Commercial pilot license CAXXXXXX Category 1 Medical EXP 11/07 Group 1 IFR EXP 10/08 Class 4 Instructor EXP 10/08 Second column is for hours: Total: 200hrs PIC: 100hrs Multi: 20hrs Seaplane: 15hrs etc etc Then put all the usual garbage: School, Employment, Interests. Keep it two pages or under. But in aviation, I've never got a job with a resume. Its all who you know and what you know. My last two employers never even looked at my resume! Best of luck!

I would answer this question, but calnickel (above) got it pretty right. Oh, can I suggest you check out the following website for available jobs and their requirements. There is also link to the companies and their fax number and email addresses to submit your resume. P.S. Stay away from Mesa Airlines if you can. Bad company to work for. http://airlinepilotcentral.com/resources/job_search_resources/regional_hiring_minimums_20070412222.html

Hell if this was a site for technical stuff you could have fooled the hell out of me considering some of the idiotic "technical" answers I've seen here. I'd be delighted to help you with your resume. I've looked at many and hired a number of pilots. Put something together and email it to me and I'll give you my two cents worth. If I don't hear from you, good luck.

In MS Word there is a template for a functional resume. I use that one because my education and work experience do not fit into a regular resume. You might want to try it and if you want help you can Email me by clicking on my picture here in answers, because I do accept email but not IM's.

OK, I recommend that you contact the job placement (career advancement) office (or alumni office if they don't have the placement one) and ask them. Not only can they help you write the resume, they'll give you some suggestions on where to send it. Congratulations and good luck!

What in the world? This is a forum for technical stuff on vehicles, aircraft, etc. Not a forum for Jobs or writing resume's. Please look on the web for 1000's of sites that offer this type of service.
