    that refers to scanning the bar code of the shipping label before departure at a point. items get shipped via truck/plane. i do not think that departure scan here means scanning for explosives/dangerous items. even if they did do such a scan there is no point of showing that as part of "TRACKING" info. Tracking info just shows where the item is.
