Step by step how to become a fighter pilot ?

  • im just wondering what are the steps to becoming a fighter pilot for the raf in the uk ? im 15 years old and am doing my gcses this year. What grades will i need to get and where do i go from there ? or have i left it to late to even think about becoming a fighter pilot ? its a job i really want to do when i leave school and has been a dream of mine or is it to difficult to become a fighter pilot ? any help would be appreciated ! thanks in advance

    The best advice I ever got was very simple. Don't suck. Whatever you do, do it well. Get good grades, stay in shape, be a good citizen. Once you start flying, be on top of the task at hand and be prepared for your flights. In other words, Don't Suck! All the recruiting info for the RAF can be found on their website, the rest is up to you.

You will need to go to uni (I cant remember the subject you need for it, but you do need a degree) 4. Join the Army/RAF 5. Stick with it: When you join, you arent automatically given your own jet, first you have to show you're committed by being in the army for a few years, then you will begin your flight training (5 months) and then your fighter pilot training (about 2 years) 6. Then you will be given a practice jet, and after about 500 hours in that, you'll have your job. The process takes about 6-15 years (from step 4) to get to step 6 You will need to be very fit You will need to have perfect eyesight You will need to be able to keep yourself motivated over a long period of time
