    The job of the flight engineer is really being cancelled out by the modernised cockpits and the computers in them. Good luck finding one, but as already mentioned, it's mainly US carriers and Asian / Middle Eastern airlines which use flight engineers now.

Only a few airlines have them, and most are cargo carriers. You would have to get a job with FedEx or UPS, or perhaps the new Delta. Some third tier carriers have them, but you have to be an aviation mechanic as well. To become a flight engineer, you have to do the same flight training as pilots. Then, get thousands of hours of flight time, pass the FE written, and get a job with an airline that has FE's. Eventually, you will move up to be a pilot for the better pay and nicer job. Not many people want to be FE's, but a few smaller cargo carriers have professional FE's, and again, they are mechanics.
