What are some colleges/schools for future pilots?

Future pilots or current pilots?

  • Hi all, Im 15 turning 16 in December, My ambition is to become an commercial airline pilot. I recently saw that British Airways (BA) were starting a 'Future Pilot Scheme', I was sooooo excited to look and see when it starts, but when i received an email today, you had to be 18 by February 2012, I was gutted. Anyone know how i can still become a pilot. Im planning to go to Oxford Aviation Academy when i finish sixth form. Thanks

Yes black night, pilots are poorly paid initially. There are benefits and if you love flying, being payed any amount is more than worth it to me. (I thought BA only accepted military pilots?) unsure though. You can still do all of your flight training and get your degree outside of this program. All they would do is mentor you through the process it sounds like.

Homesick Angel

I'm sorry you're too young for the BA scheme. If you were 17, you could have talked them into it, given you have a soignée mouth and are persistent and have good grades. I had been accepted into a BA Pilot Scheme when I was training. These BA training schemes last 2 years full time, don't they? So you still have a chance they will do another one in 2-3 years. I bet some of the lads will drop out. Otherwise, do the Oxford Aviation Academy or try the RAF. If you succeed in one of them, BA will have open ears for an application. The fact that they DO a Future Pilot Scheme means they are looking for new blood. BA are known for very reluctantly hiring foreign pilots. They don't, in fact, if they're not desperate. Those buggers are so much conceited and picky but they have every right to be so: they're one of the best airlines there is. And they train their pilots to be the very best. Stay tuned, do what you can and in the end, tell them that you had been too you when you wanted to apply first and you did everything to get into BA. - I was very proud to work for them and I would never have left hadn't it been for the Government selecting me for another job they needed me for. I still resent them.
