How can I get my pilot's license?

• I just checked my log book. I've got 16 hours of flight training from a couple of years ago. I was close to soloing but my dad became reluctant all the sudden and I just stoped going. I was 17 at the time and I would have went through with it and got my pilot's license if my dad would have let me. We have a cessna 172xp that I was using to train which cut down costs significantly since I didn't have to rent my instructor's plane. But I still believe the costs were getting rather high and thats probably why my dad put a halt on my training. But I really want to finish what I started so is there any advice or strategies on getting a pilot's license that would be a little less expensive. I've done all my ground schooling by myself and prefer to just get another private flight instructor to do my training. If anyone could give me some advice I would be much abliged. Preferably someone who is an instructor or a private pilot. I'm 20 years old and I could pay for a very small amount of it myself but I would have to rely on my dad for the rest and he knows how bad I want to get my license. Please help. Thanks alot.

  The FAA still recognizes those hours; no matter how long ago you received them. All you would need to do know is sign up at a local flight school. Depending how much you remember from your previous lessons you will probably need to start from scratch. The only thing those hours have in your favor is you can get your licence earlier IF you are ready for the check ride. Most likely you forgot a lot and will need to restart the entire coarse. Your instructor will determine where you need to start off in their syllabus and will determine when you are ready to solo/ get your license.
