    The flying Airwolf helicopter was actually a Bell 222 (sometimes unofficially called a Bell 222A, serial number 47085). The helicopter was eventually sold after the show ended and became an ambulance helicopter in Germany. The concept behind Airwolf was a supersonic and armed helicopter that could blend in by appearing to be civilian and non-military in origin - a "wolf in sheep's clothing." Airwolf's insignia patch (also designed by Probert) as worn by the flight-crew was a snarling wolf's head with gossamer wings that appears to be wearing a sheepskin complete with the head of lamb over the wolf's forehead; a play off "a wolf in sheep's clothing". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airwolf_%28helicopter%29

Bell 222a Wow I kind of liked that show back in the day but it looks soooo cheesy now! It was repainted and flew medical in Germany after that. Then it crashed in 1991: "Bell 222 of HSD - Hubschrauber-Sonder-Dienst crashed into a wooded area at an unknown location, Germany, whilst on a return flight from Cologne to Berlin, when it was surprised by a thunderstorm mixed with fog and visibility being reduced to just 30 yards. The helicopter, which was well known as 'Airwolf' from the famous US TV-series, crashed into a mountainside in a remote part of a forest, killing all 3 on board.
